Adrielle's Blessing and weeks 7, 8, and 9

It has been a while since I've been able to take the time to blog, but I didn't want to go too long before writing more.

7 weeks old

The last three weeks have been very busy. Adrielle finally got to meet her Aunt Angela and her Oma and Opa (Grandma Sharon and Grandpa Werner). She also got to meet her great aunt Christina, and great grandma and grandpa Barthule. We had everyone over also for ELTs (egg lettuce and tomato sandwiches, which also included sauteed mushrooms and onions, ham, avacado, and cilantro on toasted french bread), which is always a favorite.

It was also a very special week for me as I (finally) graduated. Elder L. Tom Perry spoke at the convocation on Thursday. Adrielle did really well Friday morning at commencement, and we were able to get some great pictures with the family.

The real party started on Saturday however, when he had a BBQ and birthday party for Alena's 1st and Natalie's 6th birthday. It was fun to have all the cousins together in one place. Adrielle also had her very first blow out, and mom and dad had conveniently left a change of clothes at home. Luckily we were able to borrow some from family. Alena had a great time, and her personality really shone through when she got her cake. She refused to get messy while eating it, patiently waiting as Candi would get her a piece on a fork, which she would proceed to eat and then give the fork back again wait patiently for the next bite.

Then finally on Sunday came Adrielle's blessing. Aunt Summer made a beautiful dress and headband for Adrielle to wear. I was very nervous and for one of the first times ever in my life I could barely sleep. I'm also very lucky that everybody had their eyes closed because if not then everybody would have been able to see how much I was shaking. Afterward we invited everyone over to celebrate Adrielle's special day and eat Hawaiian haystacks. It was great to have so many family and friends together to celebrate our sweet little girl.

After everyone left, we got some beautiful pictures of her in her dress. She was very patient with us as we took them. This is at 8 weeks old.

This week life has calmed down back to normal. She's been smiling a lot lately, but Monday we got to hear her giggle for the very first time. I also went on my first business trip since she was born from Tuesday night until Thursday and I missed her and Michelle very much. On Thursday I met back up with Adrielle and Michi at Adrielle's two month appointment. Watching her get her vaccines was pretty hard but she was very brave through everything and was soon back to her happy and smiley self.
